Our story
Unburden was created with a simple idea in mind: that no one should have to carry everything in their head.
The service was founded by a mum of three based in Scotland, with over 30 years’ experience in business administration, including Executive Assistant roles supporting CEOs and company directors.
After years of helping others stay organised at work, it became clear that the same quiet support would be just as valuable in everyday life. Everyone has things they don’t want to forget, and not everyone has the time or headspace to manage it all themselves.
Unburden currently focuses on personal reminders, delivered in a straightforward, human way through simple channels like a text message.
What makes Unburden different
Most reminder tools still rely on you.
You have to enter the dates, keep them updated, notice the alerts, and act on them.
Unburden works differently.
-
Your PA will help gather and keep track of important dates, rather than expecting you to organise everything upfront
-
Reminders are handled by a real person, not automated notifications that most people miss, snooze or ignore
-
Messages are sent early enough to act upon, not at the last minute
-
There’s no app to manage and no system to maintain - just human contact
-
We never ask for passwords, logins, or access to your accounts
The responsibility for remembering doesn’t sit in your head anymore. It sits with the Unburden reminder service. That’s the difference.
How Unburden works: Scenario #1
Emma is busy, juggling work, family and everything else life throws up. She’s good at remembering the big things, but the smaller dates sit in the back of her mind and cause low level stress.
She decides to try Unburden and effectively hires her own personal assistant for £5 a month. There’s no app to download and no system to learn. She simply shares a few upcoming dates to start with, like birthdays and an insurance renewal.
A few weeks later, Emma receives a friendly text message reminding her that her daughter’s birthday is coming up. Another reminder follows closer to the date. The messages feel personal and helpful, not automated or abrupt.
Over time, Unburden keeps track of more of the things Emma doesn’t want to forget. She doesn’t need to check anything or keep lists. She just knows that if something matters, a real person is quietly keeping an eye on it for her.
How Unburden Works: Scenario #2
James runs his own business and has a lot going on. His days are full and, though he keeps a diary for meetings, it’s the longer term things that slip through the cracks. Renewals, deadlines, and important dates sit at the back of his mind and create a constant low level worry.
He signs up to Unburden and starts with just a couple of things, including his car MOT and a few personal dates. He doesn’t need to hand over documents or log into anything. Unburden keeps track and checks in when needed.
A month or so later, James receives a WhatsApp message reminding him that his MOT is coming up, with enough time to book it without stress. He doesn’t have to search through emails or paperwork. The reminder feels timely, personal, and reassuring.
As time goes on, Unburden quietly looks after more of the things James doesn’t want to forget. He doesn’t think about reminders anymore. He just knows that if something important is due, someone is keeping an eye on it.
It’s practical support that fits around his life, without adding another system to manage.
